1Introduction

ODOWAY ("the App", "we", "us") is a vehicle expense tracker that helps you record what you spend on your cars and understand what they cost to run. This Privacy Policy explains what information the App handles, where it is stored, and who can see it.

In short: the records you enter stay on your device. A small amount of technical data leaves the device to help us fix crashes, understand which features are used, and process purchases. This page lists all of it.

2Data stored only on your device

Everything you enter is stored locally, inside the App's private storage, which other apps cannot read. None of it is uploaded to us or to anyone else.

This data never leaves your device unless you export it yourself (see section 6).

3Data that leaves your device

ODOWAY uses three services. Each one receives only the technical data listed below.

Service What it receives Why
Google Firebase Analytics Which screens are opened and which features are used; app opens and sessions; a random app-instance identifier; device model, OS version and language; approximate region derived from the IP address. To understand which features are used and improve the App.
Google Firebase Crashlytics Crash reports: the technical error, the state of the App when it crashed, a random installation identifier, and device model and OS version. To find and fix crashes.
Google Play Billing and RevenueCat When you buy ODOWAY Plus: the purchase and product identifiers, a random anonymous user identifier, and your IP address. Payment details are handled by Google Play and are never seen by us or by RevenueCat. To confirm a purchase and restore it later.

What is never sent: amounts, odometer readings, vehicle names or photos, notes, or the names of categories you create. When the App reports that a custom category was used, it sends only the word "custom", not the name.

All of this data travels over encrypted connections (HTTPS). These providers process it on our behalf and may store it outside your country, including in the United States. Their own policies apply: Google, Firebase, RevenueCat.

4Your choice: turning statistics off

Usage statistics and crash reports are on by default. You can turn both off at any time in Settings โ†’ About โ†’ Share usage statistics. The change takes effect at once, and nothing more is sent by Firebase Analytics or Crashlytics from that device.

Purchase data cannot be switched off, because without it a purchase cannot be confirmed or restored. It is only sent when you buy ODOWAY Plus or restore a purchase.

5What ODOWAY does not do

ODOWAY does not
Show advertisements or use your advertising identifier
Ask you to create an account, or ask for your name or email
Use your precise location
Sell, rent or share your information with anyone for their own purposes
Send anything you record in the App

6Export, import and backup files

ODOWAY can export your records to a CSV file for use in a spreadsheet, and can save a full backup file that you can restore later. You can also import a CSV you already have.

These are actions you take yourself. Your device's own file picker asks where to save the file, and that choice is yours. Once saved, the file is an ordinary document on your device or in the place you chose.

We have no access to these files and do not receive a copy. If you save a backup to a cloud service or send it to someone, that service's privacy policy applies to it, not ours.

7Device permissions

ODOWAY asks for no runtime permissions: no location, no contacts, no storage, no notifications. It declares internet access, which the services in section 3 need, and Google Play's billing permission, which purchases need.

Task How it works without a permission
Adding a vehicle photo Uses the Android photo picker or camera app, which hands over only the photo you choose
Choosing a file to import Uses the Android file picker, which grants access to the single file you pick
Saving an export or backup Uses the Android save dialog, which writes only where you choose

8Legal basis

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom: we process usage statistics and crash reports based on our legitimate interest in keeping the App working and improving it. You can object at any time with the switch described in section 4. We process purchase data to fulfil the purchase you made.

9Data retention and deletion

The data we receive is linked to random identifiers, not to your name or email. You still have the right to access, correct or delete it, and to complain to your data protection authority. To make a request, email us at the address below.

10Children's privacy

ODOWAY is intended for adults who own or run a vehicle. It is not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. If a future version of ODOWAY handles data differently, for example through optional accounts or cloud backup, this policy will be updated before that version is released.
